Cracker free Diwali

Diwali, the festival of lights, is just round the corner and yesterday I was telling Kavya about how children were being forced to work in those factories in Sivakasi in inhuman conditions. Also told her about how the smoke causes problems to the birds and the plants. This was done last year too and she did not want crackers then. She told me this time too that she was not keen on crackers. After an hour, at the dining table, Mom and Pauravi said that they would get Phuljari and such simple crackers and when I asked her she said she did not want crackers. So proud of you my princess!!!! I am sure you are doing your bit for the environment. But yes I have promised to take her to Matunga Gymkhana’s Diwali party where they would have a fireworks show. Can’t deprive her of the joys of looking at the colours of Diwali.

Request to all of you please do not burn up your pockets on these crackers. Just not worth it considering the terrible damage they do to the already fragile eco system.
